Marca Cassity and Joseph Stands With Many - 7-10PM Free!
601 Light St, Baltimore, Maryland 21230
BALTIMORE, Maryland 21209-4329

Marca Cassity and Joseph Stands With Many present a duo of music and Cherokee storytelling as part of a series of unique performances by Baltimore-based artists. These performances will take place throughout the night at an immersive art installation entitled ARGO. The installation underscores the profound influence of water. Light and water share emotional and physical properties: both provide life or hope, and instill fear or trust. ARGO addresses events formed by and affecting water, and how Baltimore’s water systems are precariously changing.

The Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) is 1,168-mile long crude oil pipeline meant to transport oil from North Dakota to Illinois. Construction has already destroyed sacred burial sites and lands of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe. The Tribe has been locked in a legal battle in order to protect their sacred lands and all of our water. Thousands of Native Americans and allies from all over the world have gathered at one of the most controversial sections of the pipeline’s path to stage a 24/7 resistance. They’ve created a settlement of camps and need our support to stand their ground. There have been numerous arrests thus far, and brutality against resistors by state and private security has been documented widely. We stand with Standing Rock!
